To the editor:
At the beginning of each school year, my teachers always explained how important it was to attend every class.
This past spring, Jamey Murphy joined the Mehlville Board of Education, affirming that he would serve the district and committing himself to attend board meetings.
Yet, last week at the start of one of the most important board meetings in several years, it was announced that Mr. Murphy was absent due to a “work emergency.”
It must have been a major work emergency: Mr. Murphy was still not in the room two hours later when the board voted to place a 49-cent tax-rate hike on the November ballot.
Did Mr. Murphy plan to dodge a politically sensitive vote or was that just a happy coincidence?
