Detective to discuss opioid epidemic Jan. 11

Detective Casey Lambert of the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Drug Enforcement will discuss the opioid epidemic in this area next week at a meeting of the Tesson Ferry Township Republican Club.
Opiates have been a popular drug trend in this region for several years with Fentanyl being the trending drug.
Fentanyl is a very addicting and powerful opiate that has been found in just about all drugs in this area, according to a news release. It is a prime suspect for the rise in overdoses, the release stated.
In addition, heroin purity levels are higher than in the past with drug dealers making their drugs as pure and potent as possible to meet their customers’ demand for greater highs, contributing to the increase in overdoses.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 4355 Butler Hill Road.
