Democrats Barney Frank, Chris Dodd cause of U.S. financial problems

As I sit here reviewing the Call tonight, I came across a letter written by Mr. Michael K. Broughton of Green Park. Well, I thought just another Democratic supporter on the stump, but then as I delved into it, I saw the statement: “… (O)ur current economic woes are the result of eight years of the most egregious, disgraceful, economically damaging presidential administration in American history — that of Republican George W. Bush.”

Well, other than a bunch of sesquipedalian verbosity, it’s dead wrong. I guess you missed it, Mike, but the problems were caused by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd — both Democrats — when they demanded that banks loaned to people who could never be expected to pay it back, you know, Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae.

Sorry, Mike, but your Democratic social engineering caused this mess and now your boys want $2 trillion more for God knows what. Since you like to quote Ronald Reagan, I leave you with the parting thought: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”
