Dasher named Beasley Elementary principal

Jennifer Dasher will serve as principal of Beasley Elementary School, effective July 1.

Dasher will take over for Jan Walkonis, who is retiring at the end of the current school year. Dasher joins the Mehlville team from Hancock Elementary School in the Hancock Place School District, where she has served as principal for the past three years.

The Mehlville Board of Education voted unanimously in closed session April 28 to extend a one-year contract to Dasher at a salary of $92,233.

Before serving as principal at Hancock Elementary School in 2002, Dasher gained administrative experience as an assistant principal at Hancock Middle School from 2000 to 2002 and as a high school administrative intern at Fern Ridge High School in the Parkway School District from 1999 to 2000.

Before moving into the administrative ranks, Dasher held teaching positions at Hancock High. She was an at-risk teacher from 1995 to 1996 and served as an al-ternative school coordinator/teacher from 1996 to 1999.

At the elementary school level, Dasher worked as a summer school program teach-er for the Immaculate Heart of Mary School in 1998 and as a summer school elementary recreation program teacher for Han-cock Elementary in 1997 and 1998.

She earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Lindenwood Univer-sity.

Dasher also holds a bachelor of science degree in special education K-12 from Quincy University.

She has certification from the state of Missouri as an elementary principal (K-8), secondary principal (9-12) and special education — learning disabilities (K-12), according to a news release.
