The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce recently recognized Kayla Swiderski and Will Vestal as its Middle School Students of the Year. Kayla is in eighth grade at Sperreng Middle School. Carmen Worley from Friendship Village noted during the awards presentation that Kayla gives tremendous effort in academics, shows great school spirit, leads programs and activities, and is kind, generous and always positive. Will, who is in eighth grade at Truman Middle School, consistently demonstrates high work ethics, maintains straight A’s, is highly respected by teachers and administrators and shows great leadership on Truman’s Leadership Team for Character Education, said presenter Nancy Benson, representing Fran Ann Engraving. In addition, Will was elected speaker of the house as part of the YMCA’s Youth in Government program.
