Crestwood sets visioning workshop next week for comprehensive plan

Crestwood sets visioning workshop next week for comprehensive plan

Crestwood will sponsor a Community Visioning Workshop next week for the city’s first-ever comprehensive plan.

The workshop will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the aldermanic chambers at the Government Center, 1 Detjen Drive.

At the workshop, attendees will participate in an interactive discussion by mapping out the types of development, projects and improvements they wish to see over the next 15 to 20 years, according to City Planner Adam Jones.

The Board of Aldermen voted last July to adopt an ordinance hiring Chicago-based Houseal Lavigne Associates to formulate the comprehensive plan.

The visioning workshop will be a fun and engaging way for participants to provide their thoughts about the future of Crestwood, according to Jones, who noted the workshop is a vital step in establishing an overall vision for the future of the city that can provide focus and direction for subsequent planning activities, serve as the cornerstone of the consensus building process and identify a path for growth.

Based on the workshop and previous steps in the planning process, preliminary planning goals and objectives will be developed to provide the foundation for all comprehensive plan recommendations, according to the city planner.

Crestwood is paying Houseal Lavigne $89,500 to develop the comprehensive plan.
