To the editor:

I strongly support former Crestwood Ward 4 Alderman Deborah Beezley, who wishes to extend Proposition S.

Crestwood needs this revenue stream because we are not getting it from Crestwood Court any more. Our citizens need to do this in order to have a good Police Department, Fire Department, park system, et cetera.

Some people object to the tax because they think that the $10 to $20 cost per month, per taxpayer, is excessive and wasteful.

But I think this is money well spent compared to a monthly trip to gamble at a riverboat casino or buying a shiny new gun at a recent National Rifle Association convention.

We need to have a community spirit where we wish to sacrifice some to help our city prosper by supporting measures like extending Proposition S.

And, we need to beware of the anti-tax zealots who will try to crush that spirit by appealing to our selfish nature. Our city needs our support now, and we should give it to her.
