Crestwood Fire Chief Karl Kestler will receive $1,500 per month in additional compensation for his duties as acting city administrator.

Aldermen voted 7-0 during a closed session this week to approve Kestler’s additional compensation. Ward 3 Alderman Paul Duchild made the motion, which was seconded by Ward 1 Alderman Mimi Duncan.

Ward 4 Alderman John Foote was absent from the March 27 closed session.

Aldermen voted 7-0 during a March 16 closed session to name Kestler acting city administrator. Foote was absent from the closed session.

Petree Eastman, who was hired as city administrator last fall, no longer is employed by the city, according to Mayor Jeff Schlink. However, circumstances regarding her departure remain murky as Schlink has termed the issue “an outstanding personnel matter.”

Eastman was city administrator for roughly five months and was paid $98,000 annually.
