Community invited to make a splash at new pool

A dedication ceremony marking the grand opening of the new Lindbergh High School swimming pool will take place at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, on the high school campus, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

District officials would like to take this opportunity to thank residents for providing a safe, first-class facility for Lindbergh students and the community.

As part of the dedication, swimmers, divers and water polo players are invited to make the “First Splash” in the pool, while raising funds for aquatic scholarships and a local charity. Those who donate a minimum of $50 can be one of the first to swim a lap, take a dive or throw a ball into the water polo net in the new pool.

Donations also will be accepted from non-swimmers who would like to sponsor a student in the Lindbergh High School aquatics program.

To participate, send a donation — minimum $50 — to First Splash, Lindbergh School District, 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63126. Checks should be made out to the Lindbergh School District. Include the name of the participant and select an activity — swimming, diving or water polo.

Donations will be divided between aquatics scholarships and Angels’ Arms, a home for foster children in the community

A diving exhibition will follow the ribbon-cutting and First Splash activities, which are open to the public.
