Cassandra Cle-mens, daughter of Daniel and Vicki Clemens of Con-cord, has been chosen by the 11/12 District American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 299 to attend the 64th session of Missouri Girls’ State from June 19 to June 25 on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

Clemens, a junior at Ursuline Acad-emy, will join about 756 other young women for this leadership and government program designed to educate leaders of tomorrow in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

Citizens begin their weeklong adventure by registering to vote Sunday evening. They are assigned to a mythical political party that has no political organization or party beliefs or platform. These are all established by the delegates within three days into the session. Delegates may file for elected offices on the city, county and state level. Once elected, delegates are sworn in and perform their duties.
