City’s decay the fault of poor management at City Hall, reader says

To the editor:
In the fall of 2015, voters in the Mehlville School District were duped.
They were told to vote for an increase in their property taxes as this would increase their property values.
Without thinking this through, seniors lined up by the droves and voted for such an increase, not realizing they would probably end up paying more in taxes than their estate would increase in value.
Now, bleeding hearts and those with some hidden agenda are pushing to have the city of St. Louis unite with St. Louis County.
This would be to the detriment of the county and would not help the city, the decay of which is the fault of poor management at City Hall.
Problems are not fixed by throwing more money at them.
I would vote “no” on any merger.
