Church sets holiday service

The Rev. Dr. Robert Kolb, professor at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis who also performed graduate study in Europe, will preach at the Ger-man Christmas Vesper Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 12, at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road.

He will be preceded with music by the 24-voice Frauenchor — ladies’ chorus — of the St. Louis German Cultural Society. The chorus will render seasonal numbers in the German language.

The Peace Lutheran Junior Choir, grades four to six, under the direction of Sherry Bierwagen, will sing carols in the vernacular.

The Rev. Dennis A. Kastens, Peace Lutheran pastor, will serve as liturgist.

Lay readers will assist as lectors from area parishes.

The festive setting, including congregational singing, will be in German; however, English helps will be provided. High school, college and graduate students studying the language spoken by more than 140 million worldwide, are welcome to attend along with worshippers of all ages.
