Carol A. Rynders, 81, died at 1:25 a.m. Sept. 20 at her home in Godfrey, Ill., under the care of St. Anthonys Hospice.
She was born in Alton, Ill., on March 16, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Bertier) Dean, and was a lifelong resident of Godfrey. She married Robert L. Rynders on Feb. 27, 1954, at St. Ambrose in Alton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1994.
Mrs. Rynders was an active member at St. Marys Catholic Church. She was a bridge player and enjoyed volunteering at St. Anthonys.
Mrs. Rynders was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed working in her yard, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Debbie (Rolla) Hessel of St. Louis, Mark (Brenda) Rynders of Alton, Linda (Robin) Meade of Litchfield, Ill., Don (Julie) Rynders of Waco, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Nathan and Tyler Hessel, Robert and Drew Rynders, Dustin and Michelle Rynders, Megan and Morgan Meade; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Rynders was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Dean.
Visitation was at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. A funeral Mass was at St. Marys Catholic Church in Alton. Burial was in St. Josephs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church or Senior Services Plus Meals on Wheels.
