Carlin F. Phelps, 77, died June 8 at deGreeff Hospice.

Born in Bufordville, Mr. Phelps resided in Oakville as a retired machinist.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, who served in World War II, and was a retired employee of Monsanto. He also served on the board of directors for First Community Credit Union and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jeanne Phelps; daughter and her friend, Jettie Mendolia and George MacDonald; friend, Alma Harris; and five grandchildren. Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by his wife, Doris B. Phelps (nee Buttram).

Services and visitation were at Hoffmeister South County Chapel. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
