Buerkle Middle School Principal Scott Hayes has been named the new director of special services for the Mehlville School District.

Hayes served as assistant principal for one year and principal for five years at Buerkle. In his new position, he will be responsible for areas such as counseling, English language learning, or ELL, and special education. He also will work to help the district meet the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

“I believe Scott is uniquely qualified for the position based on the experience at Buerkle Middle School where he served hundreds of students and families,” Superintendent Terry Noble stated in a district news release.

Hayes stated in the release, “I am looking forward to helping our students at the district level in areas such as student interventions, ELL and counseling.”

District officials are working to fill the principal’s post at Buerkle Middle School.
