‘Bring home Sgt. Tahmooressi or let us U.S. veterans go get him’

To the editor:

There has been a lot of controversy and rhetoric about trades made by general managers involving athletes.

What about politics? This would be something that would be a great boost to our ravaged and scourged American principles and beliefs. It is apparent that the virtues of the United States of America that we have all known have been literally turned upside down.

Unless a person is blind, deaf and very dumb, it is very difficult not to acknowledge that our nation has been under virtual siege the last several years. Recently, there was an exchange of five brutal and extreme al-Qaeda terrorists for an Army soldier of questionable virtue and allegiance to the American flag.

It is hard to accept and comprehend the logic behind this transaction by our executive branch of the U.S. government. As a U.S. military veteran and a veteran of an armed military conflict, this is totally unacceptable. It is a perverse mockery to all those who have faithfully served our country.

Then we have former Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a God-fearing person who really did serve with honor and distinction during two tours in Afghanistan, who now is unjustly imprisoned in Mexico.

Here’s my suggestion of whom we should trade for a real Marine and U.S. patriot: Barack Hussein Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, former President Bill Clinton, Attorney General Eric Holder, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This is a trade that even old Bing Devine would be proud of — bring home Sgt. Tahmooressi now or let us U.S. veterans go get him.
