Bone marrow registry drive set next week in support of nurse

A bone marrow registry drive in support of Jacquie Hennes will take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the Assembly Room of the Tesson Ferry Branch County Library, 9920 Lin Ferry Drive.

Hennes is a 66-year-old mother of two, grandmother of five and a nurse who is in need of a bone marrow transplant for myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, for acute myeloid leukemia, AML, according to a news release.

She currently is preparing for a second round of chemotherapy at St. Louis University, the release stated.

A nurse for more than 40 years, she hopes to travel with her husband, enjoy time with her children and grandchildren and return to the job she loves when she is cured, according to the release.

TGI Fridays, 5262 S. Lindbergh Blvd., is partnering with Be the Match Marrow Registry to help with tissue typing costs.

Twenty percent of the bill for lunch or dinner Wednesday, Aug. 14, will be donated to Be the Match.
