Blues on the Mississippi lineup set; Billy Peek to kick off 2003 concerts

The 2003 Blues on the Mississippi concert schedule has been announced by the St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation.

The seventh annual concert series will feature the best regional and national touring blues acts performing in the family friendly Veterans’ Memorial Amphitheater in Jefferson Barracks Park.

All concerts take place from 8 to 11 p.m. Fridays. Admission is $8 for those 12 and older. Children under 12 are free. Free parking is available and carry-in food and beverages are allowed.

The 2003 season kicks off June 6 with St. Louis’ favorite blues/rock guitarist, Billy Peek.

Subsequent concerts include Toronto blues great Paul Reddick and the Sidemen, June 13; Oliver Sain and the St. Louis Blues All-Star Review, June 20; Lafayette, La., Zyedeco great Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, June 27; the fabulous Soulard Blues Band, July 11; Mem-phis’ favorite son Blind Mississippi Mor-ris and the Pocket Rockets, July 18; Alvin Jett and the Hired Help, July 25; Wash-ington D.C. blues legend Bobby Parker, Aug. 1; and Louisana’s blues king Larry Garner and the Road Lizards, Aug. 8.

Individual tickets are available at the gate beginning at 7 p.m. daily.
