Blankets, sleeping bags sought by church group

The St. Vincent de Paul Conference from Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Oakville is seeking blankets and sleeping bags for St. Vincent’s Church in Soulard.

St. Vincent’s offers many services to the homeless and one of the church’s clients froze to death during a recent cold spell.

St. Vincent’s workers were saddened as they lacked blankets and sleeping bags for those who seek food and clothing, according to a news release.

Tom Knese, president of the QAS St. Vincent Conference, asks south county residents to donate blankets and sleeping bags to benefit those who must spend the long and cold winter nights under overpasses or in abandoned buildings.

Blankets or sleeping bags can be dropped off in the St. Vincent baskets at any of the three entrances at Queen of All Saints, 6300 Christopher Drive.
