Bernard Middle School students honored South County Precinct officers, firefighters and military members with their “Patriot Day” first responders’ barbecue, an annual commemoration of the 9/11 attacks on Sept. 11. “It was a wonderful way to say thank you to the people who keep us safe. #neverforget,” the school wrote on its Facebook page. Among the officers attending were the South County Precinct’s Sgt. Craig Kriska and former Green Park Officer Matt Kappler.
