Bayless Baptist Church, 8512 Morganford Road, will celebrate 50 years of “Our Journey With Jesus” at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the regular morning services.

A lunch will follow the service and the celebration, open to the public, will continue to 4 p.m., according to Sally Keene, one of the celebration’s organizers.

“Our family at Bayless Baptist started with a mission to witness for Jesus in the area in August of 1956. The church’s first pastor, William Wynn, served until 1959. A number of pastors served before Dr. Mark Carpenter, our present pastor,” Keene stated in a news release.

“It would be hard to describe all of the many saints who have ministered through the years in keeping God’s house alive, growing and living for Jesus,” she added.
