Barbara Jo Schaper (nee Vogel) died July 21.

Mrs. Schaper was a 50-year member of the St. Ann Sodality of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Oakville. She also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Bishop Schierhoff Assembly 2110, the Ladies Auxiliary St. Francis of Assisi Council 5359 and the Western Catholic Union.

Mrs. Schaper was the beloved wife of 57 years of Henry G. Schaper Sr.; loving mother of Henry “Hank” Jr. (Jacquie), Deborah “Debbie” (Kurt) Wagner, Marilyn (Bart) Angeli and Michele “Shelly” (Greg) Rousseau; grandmother to Nikki (Brian Heuer) and Jake Schaper, Jaclyn (John Conti), Jennifer (Jeremy) Lewis, Daniel (Daphne) Wagner, Matthew (Kate), Mary Veronica, Ruth, U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Isaiah, Theresa, John Paul, Mary Grace, Regina and Mary Constance “Connie” Angeli, Elizabeth “Betsy,” Nicholas “Nick,” Katherine “Katie” (Blaine Vaughn) and Marc Rousseau; great-grandmother to Eden Wagner and Noah Lewis; and friend to many, especially Margaret (Rich) Bauer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mae Vogel.

Mrs. Schaper used a wheelchair for 25 years, but she and her husband still drove to 48 states.

Visitation was at Hoffmeister South County Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.
