Baker earns degree, Fulbright Fellowship

Alaina Baker recently graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, earning a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with high honors, magna cum laude.

She is a member of the academic honor society Phi Beta Kappa and the scientific research society Sigma XI.

In addition, Baker has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and will spend the next year in Germany at the University of Goettingen. Her research will be conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Gerald Huether studying the early protein alterations in Alzheimer’s disease.

The J. William Fulbright Fellowship Pro-gram was established in 1946 to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of people, knowledge and skills.

Baker is a 2001 graduate of Rosati-Kain High School. She plans to enter the doctorate program at Northwestern University’s Institute for Neuroscience after her Ful-bright year. She is the daughter of Jeffery and Susan Baker of south county.
