The Lindbergh School District received a clean, unqualified audit opinion in its annual audit conducted by Daniel Jones and Associates, CPA, according to a district news release.

Vera Brandt presented the audit last week to the Board of Education. She reported no findings, restatements of accounts or management concerns. Brandt explained that this is the best opinion an auditor can give, and that taxpayers “should feel comfortable that the district’s finances are being well managed,” the release stated.

In the release, Assistant Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer Patrick Lan-ane stated, “For the Business Services De-partment this is like getting an A on our report card. The district’s business office has competent, long-term employees who believe that the careful management of the tax money is a sacred trust.”

The auditor also praised the Board of Ed-ucation for completing an annual audit rather than just complying with the state requirement for an audit every other year, and for authorizing special audits in specific areas.

Lanane listed past additional independent audits for accounts payable, the food service program, transportation services, utilities, telephone, club and athletic accounts, soda and petty cash accounts, the technology program, the early retirement incentive program, club fund-raisers, and the after school activities program. Lanane indicated that these areas often are determined by studying areas where audits of other school districts raised questions.

Board President Mark Rudoff stated, “We are pleased with the unqualified opinion, validating the prudent fiscal operation of our district. We will continue to audit and review our finances beyond the minimum requirements mandated by the state. The board feels strongly about its obligation to maintain the highest standard of fiscal stewardship in managing the community’s assets.”
