The Open Door Animal Sanctuary, 6065 Duda Road, House Springs, will host an “adoptathon” and fundraiser next month that will feature more than 400 animals up for adoption.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 15, Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17. More than 400 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be up for adoption.
Guests who make a donation will be entered in a drawing for a deluxe dog or cat goody basket.
“The need for good homes and people with big hearts is ever increasing,” stated Amanda Duncan, Open Door cattery manager. “Open Door is not very well known throughout the St. Louis area, even though we’ve been in the same location for 35 years, and we are hoping to change that. We are hoping that a weekend-long event will attract several potential adopters, volunteers and donors.”
Open Door, a non-profit agency, is the largest no-kill shelter in the area and is funded solely through donations and adoption fees, Duncan stated.
