A new amusement center is coming to Sunset Hills after the Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a Conditional Use Permit for a new Urban Air location at 10990 Sunset Hills Plaza Aug. 10.
The location is 32,000 square feet and was most recently occupied by Steinmart. City staff recommended approval of the permit.
Urban Air is one of the largest indoor entertainment companies in the country, featuring trampolines, ziplines, arcades and several other indoor activities.
There are hundreds of locations in the U.S. Owner Joe Van Deusen said the Sunset Hills location would see state of the art attractions at a planning commission meeting Aug. 4.
“We aren’t just your run-of-the mill trampoline park. We strive to be the premier indoor facility for families to go to,” Van Deusen said.
Mark Kornfeld, representative for the plaza landlord, said the landlord and surrounding businesses are looking forward to adding Urban Air to the plaza.
“In order for us to get this lease for Urban Air we had to get approvals from Home Depot, PetSmart, David’s Bridal and Marshalls. All of those folks did their own internal review … and they’re very excited to hopefully have Urban Air join them,” Kornfeld said.
City Planner Lynn Sprick wondered if the noise from inside the building would bother neighboring tenants, but Van Deusen said usually walls are thick enough to mitigate that issue.
