The St. Louis County Police Department’s South County Precinct is asking travelers to avoid the Lemay area of South Broadway between the St. Louis City limits — River City Casino Boulevard and Horn Avenue.

The quarter-mile stretch will be closed for the next several hours due to an accident with a fatality early this morning — Saturday — in St. Louis City, according to a news release. The accident left the road littered with debris and electric poles down as reconstructionists work the accident.

Ameren Missouri also is working at the scene at this time, the release stated.
